Combined ATV / UTV and Snowmobile Safety Class

We will need the DNR customer ID number and date of birth for each person signing up. You can obtain a DNR Customer ID Number by calling WI DNR Customer Service at 1-888-936-7463 between 7AM and 10 PM daily.



We are offering a Combined ATV / UTV and Snowmobile Safety class that will certify students in both ATV / UTV and Snowmobile Safety. The Snowmobile Safety class can be taken separately if both certificates are not needed. The total class time for the combined course is about 4 hours shorter than if the classes were taken separately. You will be signed up for both classes automatically and must email the instructors if you only want to take the Snowmobile Safety Class.

Mandatory Education Requirement 

ATV/UTV Safety - If you were born on or after January 1, 1988, you are required to complete an ATV / UTV safety course to legally operate an ATV or UTV in public in Wisconsin.

Snowmobile Safety - If you were born on or after January 1, 1985, you are required to complete a Snowmobile safety course to legally operate a Snowmobile in public in Wisconsin.



Anyone is eligible to take an ATV / UTV or Snowmobile safety class and receive a safety education completion certificate, although the certificate is not valid for a child until he or she is 12 years old. This class is open for all ages, but best for people over 11 years old due to class material that is covered.

Parents and guardians are also welcome to take the class. There have been many recent law changes pertaining to ATVs, UTVs and Snowmobiles. Adults may be able to receive a discount on ATV or snowmobile insurance by completing this course. Contact your insurance company for details. This course may also be required if you want to rent a ATV, UTV or snowmobile from a dealer or if you plan on ATVing, UTVing or snowmobiling outside of Wisconsin.




IMPORTANT - All WI Recreational Safety Students are required to obtain a WI DNR Customer ID Number before the start of any Recreational Safety Class and will also be required to provide that WI DNR Customer ID Number along with students personal information to the instructor on the first day of classYou can obtain a WI DNR Customer ID Number 7AM to 10PM by calling the WI DNR Customer Service at 1-888-936-7463 or visiting this website -  https://gowild.wi.gov/lookupaccount.
